rotator cuff tear-I have a tear in my rotater cu
how did they diagnose the tear? Is it a full tear or a partial tear? If it's a full tear then the only option is surgery. If it's a small tear (which I had a few years ago) I got better with a cortisone shot to help ease the pain, and then weeks of physical therapy, ice, and rest... also weeks of pain meds! I know the pain, that was one of the worst things! Hope you get better!
I have a tear in my rotater cuff. No insurance but have consulted a physical therapist. He gave me some exercizes to do. I'm in constant pain. Does anyone have any suggestions ? Thank you, Mike

I am currently doing exercises directed by my doctor for an advanced rotator cuff injury. It isn't torn right now. He told me if it tears during the exercises, the only option is surgery. I'm hoping to avoid that, but he said such injuries don't repair themselves without some type of medical intervention, be it physical therapy or surgery.
Do the exercises. It hurts REALLY BAD. But it's worth it to keep the use of your arm. Your doctor may have also suggested the use of ice after the exercise and an anti-inflammatory, like Alieve, to help with the pain and swelling when you heat up that muscle.
No matter how much you dread the exercises, don't give up. It's ok to cry. Constant pain that's elevated by exercise is not something I look forward to every day. But follow your doctor's instructions carefully. That's vital.
Best wishes. I'm with you on this. It's a tough road.
