It will depend on the medicine. However, most meds that can be stored on a cabinet shelf will survive a little warmer or little cooler temperature for a few days. If it was left in the hot sun or freezing weather, that might make a difference.

You know how on a medicine bottle it always tells you to store it between two temperatures? If for a few days you leave the medicine a few degrees above or below that temperature, is it ruined? If it isn't ruined, is its potency lowered a little bit?

Usually a day or two will be fine. These warnings are mainly to prevent people from keeping medicines in their bathroom cabinets, which is about the worst place in the house to store them. Also, keeping them in the car is a bad idea (I am guilty of this), because of the temperature extremes.

I have some Effexor and I left it in my car for a few hours and by the time I got back it was kind of cold in the car, maybe like 40 or 50 degrees. Should I replace the Effexor or is it still good?

You may want to ask the pharmacist, but I think you're okay with that. That's warmer than a refrigerator, after all (the temperatures here drop into the negative 20's and 30's Fahrenheit, and that's more what I had in mind when I was talking about extremes).
