I have an air purifier since I have allergies and I can tell its made a difference. You should have seen all the gunk that was on the filter when I tossed it. First of all do not buy anything that has the word ionizer anywhere on the box. A lot of people get sick from ionizing air purifiers. Secondly you have to look at pricing for pre filters and the main hepa filter. You may find an air purifier that's cheap but the filters may be expensive. I have a purifer which has a life time hepa filter. That means I never have to change it. I can clean it with a vacuum hose. If you change the pre filter properly you'll probably never have to clean the hepa filter anyway. Another thing is how quiet do you want the unit to be. Usually the ones that are quiet are super expensive. Anything under $200 bucks will probably be noisy. The one I use has a program feature so you can set it to come on when you're not home which is good if you find it a bit too noisy. Take your time when looking since there are a lot to choose from. I have been googling for 'air purifier reviews' and all that seems to come out is really biased reviews, really old threads, or irrelevant hits. Is there any great health benefit to air purifiers? I've read that you want to make sure you get one with a HEPA filter, don't buy this certain brand, and then contradicting information on another site. I'm confused and would appreciate any sort of insight on the topic. Thanks!

I'm not concerned with noise whatsoever, unless we're talking like difficult to converse in same room loud. I will avoid anything to do with ionizing. ||| I use the honeywell quietcare 17005.
